Exciting Christmas Gifts for Everyone!
75
I love the Christmas season. I love the idea of it - I love Christmas movies and have fond memories from my childhood. I usually do not like to shop in stores but this is the exception to the rule. I love shopping for gifts for my family. I like a few clues as to what they have been hoping for but I am pretty good at guessing what each member of my family would enjoy.
Choosing for friends, spouses and significant others can be tricky! Dangerous even! So here are a few ideas for those of you who might be stumped or too tired to shop anymore.
For that special girl in your life:
If you are dating someone special - you know that everyone is sizing up the box that you have gotten for your girlfriend this year. The pressure to propose can be crushing! So if you aren't ready to make that jump - an alternative gift can get you out of hot water. First tip - do not buy jewelry for her unless she hinted about something in advance. Stay away from anything that could fit into a small ring sized box or your date might burst into tears when she sees that brooch you bought instead.
If you really think this girl has potential - be clever about your choice. Gifts can say so much! My first choice for your girlfriend would be an Eternity or Infinity scarf. It is thoughtful, classy and in style. You could also give her a card that says something like, "Hope this keeps you warm when I can't."
For those special guys in your life:
Tickets to an upcoming sporting event! What better way to give a gift that keeps on giving? You can offer tickets for your guy and his friend - or seal another date for yourself! If he isn't into sports chances are that he is into music or theater. Upcoming concerts or other local events can be found by looking at Ticket Masters or Stub hub. Choose a book on a subject that your boyfriend is interested in but wouldn't purchase for himself. Men seem to like clothes and tools for Christmas. If the man in your life is a gamer - find out the newest game or get an accessory for one of the games he plays.
Gifts for Family Members
I like to purchase unusual gifts. I will shop for hours and I will not purchase a gift for someone unless I am positive it is just the right thing. I often buy gifts that I know will make my family laugh. This year, my favorite buy was a stun gun! My single sister bought a house in the deep woods so I have been worrying about what she would do in the event of an intruder. She has a security system but it wouldn't stop a would be attacker! Now I will be able to sleep comfortably knowing she has that under her mattress. I just wonder who we are going to test is out on? My 23 year old daughter just moved out so I bought her one too. Can't be too careful!
This gift for sure is going to add that special, "boom boom pow!"
I add small, inexpensive gifts like beautiful stationary and pens for my girls who love to write as much as I do. I add lots of good smelling fun stuff from Avon for their stockings - lip balms, lotions, colored bubble bath roll on sticks. Tattoo's, colorfully painted crafts like chop sticks, or ornaments that have scenes inside of them. Anything that catches my eye that seems frilly or silly. I throw in a little bit of candy but not much. They are always surprised about what I can fit in their stockings!
Christmas Fun for Kids
When my kids were toddlers we did not set out the tree or gifts or anything in our home until they had gone to sleep on Christmas Eve. Dave and I would be up putting things together all night but the look on their faces was always worth it! One year we waited until they went to sleep - moved them into our bed and redecorated their entire rooms with new curtains, comforters, shams and pillows. We placed them back into their beds without them waking up. They were so surprised when they both woke up and couldn't figure out how all that magic happened!
There are so many gifts for kids that it is hard to choose. I have gotten my kids old time cash registers, walkie talkies, metal detectors (so they could treasure hunt)!, scooters, kits to make their own crafts, educational board games that are fun, mini pool table and a claw machine full of goodies and ready for action.

Gifts for those other "special" people.
You or someone you know, may be dating someone that is wrong for them but not buying a gift would be cheap and heartless. Breaking up with someone during Christmas would just be wrong even if he/she is a lying cheat. Buying a gift that is just right can be touchy. You don't want to encourage this person or hurt their feelings. Sometimes Christmas offers a great way to say goodbye forever!
- Track shoes - this says I hope you run away as fast as you can
- If you want more distance - nothing says, "C'est la vie" quite like a one way ticket to France
- Gift certificate to Match.com
- One free mental exam (no cash back)
- A pre-paid gas card from your local gas station.
- A large mirror if you have been dating a narcissist.
- A bill planner for the guy who can't keep track of his money so he uses yours.
- A book about personality disorders - marking the pages you suspect he can identify with.
Tips for a perfect Christmas Day
The night before Christmas, I always make a breakfast casserole. While the kids unwrap the gifts it is in the oven.
I always buy extra gifts that can be unisex. Throw blankets in feminine and masculin patterns and colors, candle sets, scarves, gloves, latest calendars, journals, stationary and random toys that I might have found in a clearance section. I keep these gifts in case I have forgotten someone was coming to dinner or if a niece brings a date or friend. I always have something for everyone. I can't tell you how many times I have been so grateful to have those type of gifts stashed!
When wrapping gifts, I take a long time and add stickers and bows and ribbons. Each box is wrapped as perfectly and beautifully as I can wrap it. I also like to color coordinate my wrapping paper. I choose a solid color and two accents and it usually looks great under the tree. This year I am going black and white.
I like the house to smell like christmas - boiling cinnamon sticks and vanilla or some other poupouri smells great! We make no plans for Christmas day. The big annual plan is staying together, playing games and maybe even staying in our P.J.'s all day. Unless it snows - then we will take the Jeep out and do some four wheel driving on back roads. Driving through the glistening snow late on Christmas night with everyone's decorations still brightly lit, is a magical end to another great season.

Well, this will be another great Christmas for you! I thought at first, that you might have stolen my hub idea. I'm writing another virtual Hubber Holiday Gifts hub :-)
Virtual gifts, again.
Merry Christmas, Ya'll
will bookmark this one dear friend!..Thanks!
LORD
Well thank you for being so timely on this... when I said stat I was meaning you could take a few hours! LOL. What great gift ideas. Love them all... I too like to treasure hunt. I gave my brother in law a shower soap dispenser last year... it was a huge nose so it looked like snot was coming out every time you lathered up. I doubt he used it... but I thought it was funny. I also like giving those little mazes... then you put something fun inside. The key is they have to figure out the puzzle before they get the gift. A perfect option to add to some cool earings or costume jewelery or money or even lottery tickets.
Awesome hub - Can I vote it up more than once...
Awwww Real Deal I LOVE how you decorated the girls room while they were sleeping, their expressions must have been priceless!!! You shared some excellent, no...superb gift buying ideas! I also like the stun gun, I bought my daughter and her friends mace when they started college but never thought of a stun gun! Luckily they all graduated and their mace was never needed...hmmmm, wonder if I could get a refund? lol We spend our christmas day the same way. If I had my way the christmas decorations would be back in storage by dusk but so far it's been a no go!! :) I enjoyed your hub word for word!! Voted across the board!!!
RealHousewife - what a great hub! I really like all of your ideas and tips. I have to agree with the others - a stun gun would be awesome, but scary! lol Your mace story in your comment above is too funny!
You are clever clever clever!
Voted up and across!!
Whoa...such a gold mine of ideas you are for a lady who does not like to shop! You are a great help to many I am sure. Barbara has finally sold me on her idea. I am to go out and buy what I want for Christmas for me and likewise so will she. We cannot touch it until Christmas morning and then we "surprise" each other with it. She says "its the best" because everyone gets exactly what they want! By the way....I have to pay for mine! LOL! WB
Thanks for sharing this beautiful hub. I love the Christmas season because my family give me lots of gifts on Christmas and I love gifts......hahahaha
I would send you a nicer casual pajama for a new profile pic!
...actually to tell you the epi-truth ..... your hubs are like Christmas gifts all year round ..... lake erie time ontario canada 5:02am ....may be the true spirt of Christmas be celebrated all year and every day!
I have yet to start Christmas shopping as I procrastinate until the last few days. I used to have all my shopping done by December 5th. Oh well...But you've given me some great ideas here. Loved the Hub!
Good job, appreciate the ideas! Up and interesting!
Yhsnk you, Kelly, for solving my problem of what to get in-laws I am not particularly fond of. I'm gifting each one of them with a stun gun and letting them fight it out among themselves. Might even sell tickets. Just kidding of course. Loved your list of exciting, eclectic gifts.
Another great hub! I do have to say though... what do you get for the person that wants nothing, likes very little, and the stuff he does like he already owns? That is my question for you to answer!! Greatly enjoyed your ideas and stories though! You obviously love christmas :-) I enjoy it as well, but I have a very hectic christmas and that brings down the enjoyment a tiny bit... but anything to see the whole family! Anyways... good job!
lol... I read the belly button brush to Darrel! He totally freaked :-) Actually the music isn't a bad idea because his current job lets him listen to music all day except it is a temp job and so we do not know how much longer he will be there and after that point he very rarely listens to music! The lottery tickets have been done ( multiple times) for other people and he doesn't really care for it because he has never one a single buck and thinks it is a waste of money... but the belly button brush :-) I like that one! lol... but maybe not for him! I told you he is a tough one to buy for! Every year it gets more and more difficult! Thanks for the suggestions... although I actually already have him done for this year. I just was testing your wonderful ideas!! I might come back to you for his birthday though ;-)
Wow Kel, you really put a lot of love and effort into your holiday. It's awesome. Love what you and Dave did to the girls room, how clever! I too have extra gifts on hand for that unexpected "significant other" who you thought left weeks ago but ends up here on Christmas. Like the nephew who has been dating so and so and then on Christmas, shows up with a new girl. It's easy to just change the gift tag, ha. No matter who they are, it is always nice to give a little something. Great hub Kel!
Sharyn
A very useful hub and thank you for sharing this one.
Very useful indeed and has to be awarded an up up and away.
Take care
Eddy.
Folks eye up the size of the box given to a wife, too. Thanks for the pep talk. Now I can finish up my Christmas shopping.
Great thoughts on how to personalize gifts like the scarf. I love it when someone does something romantic like that. These are great suggestions. I hope all the male readers are paying attention to your wisdom.. HINT HINT..
I totally agree with you that young girls can't be too safe. I have given the girls in my family pepper spray canisters. You seem like a very thoughtful person. Awesome job!
Excellent tip for the guys about not buying a gift in a box the size of a ring box unless planning to pop the question. Have seen that play out in movies and it's never pleasant.
Voted up and useful.
Thanks for the fantastic ideas. I haven't been sure what to buy my nephew, but I think the walkie-talkies look like a great gift.
Those are cool. For me to do Christmas Shopping is difficult, but its the thought that counts right? :) Fregrances or clothing is more my type of giving out quick and easy gifts. :)
Wonderful suggestion! I love preparing gift for family members. Cool!
Just came from my doctor's office and the place is over run with sugary treats! I made them some spicy crackers. I think they like them better.
Food is a good gift if you make it yourself, but please don't give casual gifts of store bought cookies or fruitcake - that's so tacky I think.
Hi RealHousewife, Interesting article. Voted up! Quite a mix of ideas that you have listed here as gifts for different friends, family member, and/or girlfriends.

I like the stun gun but I am a jewelry lover. I wish you had more jewelry up there.
